A smart society, made in Switzerland

#SwissAutonomousValley brings experts and visionary entrepreneurs together to create a one of a kind ecosystem to accelerate the development of autonomous systems.

A space for accelerated autonomous business.

#SwissAutonomousValley will be the leading digitalization initiative for autonomous systems worldwide. We accelerate the development and approval process of autonomous systems by replicating real cities in mirror worlds. We make testing locations available and organize incentive competitions to push the envelope in autonomous systems development.

A simple logic with a big impact

Layer 1: Physical location

Permanent access to physical testing spaces

Layer 2: Mirror World

Training of autonomous systems through leading simulation frameworks (e.g. NVIDIA ISAAC, Microsoft Airsim)

Layer 3: Regulation Scenarios

Providing regulatory relevant scenarios that can be tested in both spaces and that allow the regulator to accept virtually tested elements in the approval process

Autonomous systems enable Swiss Post to make processes and services in logistics and mobility more efficient, more time-independent, more ecological and more available. This includes, for example, our drones or robots. #SwissAutonomousValley is making an important contribution to our ability to develop tailor-made systems of this kind for Switzerland and, in cooperation with the authorities, to make them eligible for approval.

Daniel Gerber

Head of Innovation, Swiss Post

Switzerland is world-leading in autonomous systems and robotics. Thanks to the Swiss Autonomous Valley we can further enhance this leadership, support startups and cooperates in the field, and attract partners from abroad. This exciting initiative will surely give a big boost to the field and generate high international visibility!

Prof. Dr. Roland Siegwart

Director Autonomous Systems Lab, ETH Zürich

Switzerland has the world’s class robotics companies and research labs. The Swiss Autonomous Valley is the first step to create standardized tools with simulators and field test facilities, which will allow to boost advancements in robotics and collaboration between academia and industry.

Tangible use cases — close to business

There are already different projects in Switzerland. Several of our partners are testing autonomous systems in Switzerland. These projects explore different questions and aspects like maturity of the technology, regulation, impact on society and business cases.

With #SwissAutonomousValley we accelerate those cases and we’re planning to develop new business cases, e.g.

  • Drone delivery
  • Mailbox robot
  • Street cleaning
